Just Horsin' Around

The skirt fest continues!

I had one piece of this horsey corduroy fabric left from a bag I made last year for a horse-loving friend. After pondering several ideas, this super twirly skirt mad the final cut. Now I wish I had more fabric. I might even wear this skirt myself.

With lots of custom dressmaker details like bound seams, a lined yoke, and hem, this skirt is gonna make some little girl happy! The fabric is super soft, 21 wale chocolate brown corduroy with off white embroidered horses and other misc. horse stuff.

It's one of those items that could easily become a wardrobe staple because so many outfits could be made from it!

Update: I had the nicest compliment from Sheryl: she likes the wrong side of this skirt so much that asked if I had been asked to make it inside out! Thank you Sheryl!!!!

Here a Skirt, There a Skirt, Everywhere a Skirt, Skirt

Skirts are what's new here at the Chickdee! The border skirts are perfect for twirling! Skirts are s0 versitile - add a new top and you've got a new outfit. Take them into fall and winter by adding tights, leggings, capri pants, or jeans.
The seahorse skirt and tank set is made from Heather Ross seahorses print from her Mendocino collection. It is super soft cotton and some of the most gorgeous fabric I've seen. Plus, who doesn't love a seahorse? The gold doggie skirt is also a Heather Ross print. The seahorse set is up in the shop. Watch for others soon.

Photo Shoot with the Popsicle Girls

A few days ago we did a photo shoot with the Popsicle Girls and it was a blast! It There's tons of shots that show the happy spirit and sisterly love these girls have! Singing, dancing, twirling, you name it. They love the camera and the camera loves them.

Lots of the photos from the day have already ended up on our etsy site and still others will be in our own blog stories, an upcoming feature on another blog, brochures, etc. But some of my very favorite shots from the day are those that won't end up in print or to feature clothes, but they capture the personaility of each of the girls. Here's a few of them.

Patriotic Ruffle Pants and Tank

Kim 's husband is serving our country in Iraq and she's at home with infant twins and a 3 year old. As a surprise for Daddy, she's having photos taken and asked for some patriotic items for the kids. It started with these cute red, white, and blue ruffle bum bloomies and she wanted something to coordinate for the other children. This photo is of the mock up of a couple of options. Wonder which one she chose? Check back!
