S'mores, a Campfire, and Amy Butler

Last weekend we joined a bunch of long-term friends for a campout at their farmland in the rolling hills of southern Ohio. It's a beautiful spot where for now they spend weekends relaxing and caring for the land and in the future they plan to build a home or cabin. There's a brand new, clean barn which came in handy during the pop up storms. One of my favorite things was watching the kids enjoy themselves with simple things like making s'mores over an open fire or driving the gator through the trails among the farm. There really isn't anything like the smile of a child, is there?

I took along some Amy Butler swatches. Okay, a-l-o-t of Amy Butler swatches. Friend Stephanie and her girls were choosing fabrics for the background of thier initial tees. Carley is 6 and quickly decided on hers. Kelsey, just weeks away from 3, flipped through the fabrics proclaiming "I like this one" time and time again. She changed her mind often, but eventually made a choice, too. Afterwards, those swatches were good for fun and games. Who knew how many smiles you could get from something so simple.

Lily of the Valley

Spring in Ohio is so beautiful! Perhaps its the contrast of neverending grey skies of winter pushed aside by the dance of the colors of spring. The bright green of trees and grass. The pastels of daffodils, hyacinths, lilacs, and tulips. The clear blue skies. The striking pink of the crabapple blossoms and dogwoods. The unmistakeable magnolia. And finally, the delicate lily of the valley makes its debut. Welcome spring!

Black & White Giraffe

When Alex was 4 years old, he loved three things: his stuffed giraffe, singing, and anything having to do with balls. He even wanted his new baby brother or sister to actually be a giraffe. Since his mom & dad couldn't deliver on that, a giraffe baby gift seemed appropriate.

This little black and white version would be good for a girl or a boy. Next up, I think I'll try a matching blanket.

Sweet Isla & an Organic Pink Chickadee

Look at this sweet little chickadee!! Meet Isla, daughter of friend and colleague, Jenn and her hubby, Layton.

For Jenn's baby shower I made a quilted baby play mat and she was one of the first people to encourage me to open an etsy shop. So when darling Isla arrived, a Pink Chickadee organic onesie seemed appropriate.

Look how precious Isla is! She is sooooo sweet! Jenn, call me for a baby sitter anytime!

Kelsey Lighting & the Rainbow Garden

This sweet little pixie is the youngest daughter of my friends Stephanie & Keith. Kelsey was trying on dresses for size, so we can make something custom for her and sister Carley. So adorable! I can't wait to publish pictures of them both!

Big brother, Kaleb is a cutie pie, too, but has outgrown Pink Chickadee I'm sorry to say.

This fabric has so many colors in it - 5 shades of pink, light aqua blue, peach, orange - that its easy to make lots of outfits from this one piece. We offer 3 coordinates: pink dot ruffle pants, orange bloomies, and pink ruffle bums.

Initial Tee

Ever want something that looks both casual, but special? These initial tees may be just the thing. They're perfect for high school reunions, a day at the amusement park, family photos, family picnics, Mom or Dad's company picnic, and lots more!
The letters can be either solid black or white dots on black. Tees and onezies are both available. We're finalizing our selection of tee/onezie colors, but for now we have white and heather grey tees and pink, brown, heather grey and white onezies. We can even do this item for big kids and Mommies!

The background circle is your choice. All dots are white unless otherwise noted.

Soon, I'll be offering a bunch of Amy Butler's fabrics as additional options. There's about 40 here. Do you think that's too many choices? Maybe you'll need more than one!

Amy Butler Reversible Dress

Amy Butler fabrics are not only beautiful in design, but are such high quality, too. I love sewing with them. The weight of the fabric is perfect for clothing and they launder beautifully.

Last summer I made myself some skirts from her fabrics and they became ones I wore over and over. No ironing needed (yes!!) and the color was unlike anything else I owned. Amy's known for vintage modern design aesthetic and her unique color combinations.

This sweet reversible dress shows how beautifully fabrics from her collections coordinate without being matchy-matchy. Though I have these fabrics in other dresses I've made, this particular fabric combo was personally selected by a new customer. Check out the cute buttons!

This reversible jumper/dress is great because its two dresses in one. Plus it can be worn alone, with pants, with a short sleeve tee, long sleeves, turtleneck, or layer a sweater over. Beautiful fabric, practical design. What could be better?
